Ten Basic Things to Know Before You Go
As a travel agent specializing in Disney destinations, it's essential to provide my clients with valuable information to ensure they have a magical and stress-free experience at Walt Disney World. I give them a LOT of information, but I want to help out all travelers, even if you’re not my client (yet), so here’s a taste.
Park Reservations: Disney World currently requires park reservations in addition to valid park tickets. Make these reservations as early as possible to secure their preferred dates and parks.
FastPass+ Has Been Replaced: Disney has discontinued the FastPass+ system and introduced Genie+ and Lightning Lane. I recommend you purchase Genie+ to maximize time in the parks.
Dining Reservations: Advanced dining reservations (ADR) are crucial, especially for popular restaurants. Book dining reservations 60 days in advance for the best selection. (If you’re my client, you can select for me to do these for you!)
MagicBands and My Disney Experience: MagicBands are important for easy park entry, Genie+ (if applicable), and room access. You need to also download the My Disney Experience app to manage reservations and view park information.
Park Hours and Crowd Calendar: The app provides information on park hours and I recommend referring to crowd calendars to plan their visit during less crowded times, if possible. (Kenny the Pirate has some great suggestions!)
Weather and Packing: Make sure you’ve researched Orlando's weather patterns and you’re packing appropriately, including comfortable clothing, sunscreen, and ponchos for potential likely rain showers.
Mobile Ordering: I encourage the use of mobile ordering for quick-service dining locations. This can save you time and help you avoid long lines.
Character Meet and Greets: Character meet and greets may be modified or different due to health and safety measures or bad weather. There are alternative ways to see favorite characters, such as character cavalcades throughout the parks. I also recommend looking at character dining options to avoid lines.
Stroller and Disability Services: Inform clients about stroller rental options and Disability Access Service (DAS) for guests with disabilities, if needed. Advise them on how to utilize these services efficiently.
Transportation Options: Disney offers various transportation options within the resort and park areas, including buses, monorails, and boats. Be sure you’re aware of the most efficient way to navigate between parks and resorts.
I encourage you to check the latest updates and guidelines on the official Walt Disney World website, especially regarding health and safety measures, as these may change over time.
This essential information will help you plan a magical and memorable trip to Disney World!
And be sure that in the future, all your trips are booked with me! Or at least with another reputable agent.
